Community Standards:
Since Free Rein started, our goal has been to provide the space for users to create and have access to their own community. Free Rein takes advantage of technology, and our idea is simple. By creating an interactive website, with a message board, young adults can talk, share stories, and support each other.
Through live chat, message boards, instant messages, and private messages, ourfreerein.com provides young adults the opportunity to express their thoughts and opinions to their friends. Opinions posted on the message boards, in chat, instant message, or by private message are integrated into ourfreerein.com.
The essence of Ourfreerein.com, however, is more than the technological capability to bring glbt youth, teens, and young adults together online... it is developing the community standards and trust that will keep them here.
The foundation of your relationship with our members is our Community Standards. The Community Standards contain our commitments to you, as well as your rights and responsibilities as a Free Rein Member.
The Community Standards are divided into four parts -- the Community Guidelines, Feature Restrictions, the Member Agreement, and the web site's overall Conditions of Use. Here is a brief summary of each of the four elements of the Community Standards:
- Our Community Guidelines explain the common-sense principles for how all members should behave online to ensure everybody's right to enjoy this community. Examples include,observing all laws, showing basic manners, using good judgment, and not sending unsolicited advertisements or "spam." Also, our specific policy on member interaction, and consequences for violations of the Community Guidelines.
- The Feature Restrictions explain the proper usage of the special features available in our Communities. It includes our Avatar Guidelines, Signature Guidelines, Private Message Guidelines, Instant Message Guidelines, and User Title Guidelines.
- The Member Agreement contains the basic legal terms of Free Rein and ourfreerein.com membership. Things like the responsibilities of the membership holder. Despite the legal nature of the topics we've done our best to write it in a clear, concise way.
- Our Conditions of Use explain our legal responsibilities to our members and visitors.
