The most common causes of failed login are Computers, especially when they aren't working correctly.
Below are the proper setting for individuals browsers, or what you're viewing
the site with. Please try and read through this information first. However,
if it's not making any sense and just frustrating you more, email us by clicking

the problem.
» Cookies Blocked and/or Javascript Disabled:
Most login problems are caused by blocked cookies and/or disabled javascript. Each are used to store your login information,
indicate which posts are new, and your preferred topic view. If you are blocking
cookies or have disabled javascript in your web browser
or use an Internet security/privacy program that blocks first party cookies
you may not be able to stay logged in and post new messages. You may unblock
cookies and reenable javascript
by following the appropriate instructions below. If you are using an Internet
security/privacy program such as ZoneAlarm, or McAfee
Privacy Service, please consult it's documentation for instructions for unblocking
first party cookies and enabling javascript.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x

On the menu bar click on "Tools" then "Internet Options."

From Internet Options, select the "Security" tab.
3.
Click Custom Level.
4.
Scroll down to "Scripting," make sure "Active Scripting" is set
to Enable.
5.
Click "OK."
6.
Click "Yes" or "OK" when asked, "Are sure you wish to change the
security settings for this zone."
7.
Click the "Privacy Tab."
8.
Click the "Advanced..." button in the Settings heading.
9.
Check "Override automatic cookie handling."
10.
Click "Accept" under First-part Cookies.

Click "Block" under Third-party Cookies.
12.
Click "Always allow session cookies."
13.
Click "OK."
14.
Click "OK" on the Internet Properties window.

Close all open Internet Explorer windows and then relaunch Internet Explorer.

Following these directions will allow
Free Rein’s Board to work as designed while still blocking malicious third-party
cookies. In addition, the Free Rein Board cannot exist within a frameset. Internet
Explorer often sees the Free Rein Board within the frameset as a "third party"
and will block the cookies.
Netscape Communicator 4.x
1.
Select "Preferences" from the Edit menu.
2.
Find the "Cookies" section in the "Advanced" category.
3.
Select "Accept all cookies" (or "Enable all cookies").
4.
Also select the 'Enable JavaScript' boxes.
5.
Click "OK."
6.
Close all open Netscape windows and then relaunch
Netscape.
Windows XP with "Norton
Personal Firewall"
1.
Open NIS.
2.
Click Options.
3.
Click Internet Security (or Personal Firewall).
4.
Click Advanced Options.

Click the Web tab.

Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.

Enter the url
of the site that you want to receive the referrer information and click OK.
That site name appears in the left frame of the Advanced Options window.

Click the name of the new site.

Click the Privacy tab.

Check the "Use these rules for..." box.

Change the Referrer from "Block" to "Allow."
12.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click OK to close the Options window.
If you wish to disable all filtering:
Click on custom settings and make sure enable privacy is checked. Then click
on the Custom Level tab. Under Confidential settings select medium. Under Cookie
Blocking select None:Allow
Cookies. Do not place a check mark next to Enable Browser Privacy. Place a check
mark next to Enable Secure Connections (https). Click OK and you're all set.
America Online Web Browser
1.
On the AOL Settings menu, click "Preferences."
2.
On the "My AOL Preferences" window, click "Internet Properties
(WWW)".
3.
On the Internet Options window, click the "Security tab," and then
click "Custom Level."
4.
In the Settings list, scroll down until you see the word "Cookies."
5.
Click the button next to the word "Enable,"
6.
Click "OK."
7.
You may have to quit and restart you AOL software for these settings
to go into effect.
» Inaccurate Date And Time:
If you computer's date and time are incorrectly set this could potentially be
the cause of your login difficulties. Please consult your computer's helpmanual
or technical support to learn how to adjust and correctly set your computers date
and time.
